I joined the BBC in 1968 as a Sound Recordist for
the BBC covering international news. After twenty fascinating years ‘on
the road’ working with all the great names I decided it was becoming a
young mans game and moved back to Scotland to manage BBC Scotland News
Resources and eventually BBC Scotland Production Resources. I’m
now retired from the BBC and Trudi my wife of 42 years and I live
happily on an acre of Perthshire near the village of Forgandenny. We
both work on a voluntary basis for the Camphill organisation. I chair
their Central Scotland Property Trust which runs a village near Dunkeld
for learning disabled adults, a young persons training college at Blair
Drummond and a School in Auchterarder. Trudi is a Director of the
Camphill Village near Dunkeld. We also run a business consultancy which
although it initially started as specialised broadcasting analysis
consultancy now has a client base in the residential care sector where
we concentrate on turning round ailing care homes. (I’m still trying to
retire!) Our three children have all gone their
separate ways (peace at last!). Graham the eldest works for Oracle and
lives in Alva with his wife Carolyne and our two grandchildren Lachlan
(4) and Diarmid (1+). Kenneth, our autistic son, lives in a care
facility in Hexham and is a frequent visitor home. Heather the youngest
is a Sergeant in Grampian Police after completing an English degree at
Aberdeen. |
