I graduated in architecture 1970 (long course) then did a post grad
in conservation followed by a spell in Rome with UNESCO. Back in the UK
never did quite get away from Edinburgh and worked my way up the greasy
pole of private practice, civil service, back into practice and spent a
considerable time ‘defending the Realm’ designing for MoD (To say more
I’d have to shoot you).
Family ? Daughters two, one married and teaching primary in Kemnay
the other about to start university. Stepsons two, one chemical
engineer doing something with continuous drug production in Stevenage,
the other at university after a spell with the Royal Scots in the
Balkans and places with too much sand.
Not retired yet I’m about to start a new job as Design Manager for a
major UK construction company, Edinburgh based. A final ‘huzzah’
before thinking about stopping. As for contacts with ‘auld callants’,
the only person I meet regularly is Ben Williams, and then only at
Sainsbury’s, and then only around Christmas time, and it doesn’t matter
when around Christmas time we still seem to meet. Weird.
