After qualifying in medicine I spent some time working in hospitals
in
England then came back to Scotland and was in general practice for many
years. I
now work 3 days a week as a medical advisor to the DWP. My spare time
is spent on beekeeping activities which helps keep me active most of the
time.
When I look back at the subjects we learned at school I think of those
that have
been of most enduring value to me; I come up with Latin (for basic
understanding
of all languages), arithmetic and geometry (for all my DIY), map reading
with
'Rocky' (for my hill walking and cycling) and basic algebra (for trying
to think
logically about almost everything). After nearly 50 years I can still
remember
some of them!
